At the Board meeting last night landscaping changes were discussed, and a decision made to ask the grounds maintenance company for recommendations.
We agree that landscaping in several areas has deteriorated, and that ad hoc changes detract from the overall look of Southampton.
What is needed is an update of the Master Plan. Perhaps this could be presented to homeowners at the next Annual Meeting.

I feel that before you start landscaping and putting more flowers or trees in, you address the bigger problem. Bad concrete, cracked/inconsistent colored sidewalks, and even ensuring that the steps, windows, doors, and home exteriors are consistent in color and surface.
During the past two summers, several areas have been concreted. Some have not. Each time a concreting job has been done, the sidewalk colors did not match, the mix of the concrete did not match, and some areas that desperately need to sidewalks were not fixed. Why were segments done and not other areas in uniformity.
Also, why are things like steps which are cracked and leaking into the lower units being glazed over and being fixed intermittenly with patch up work instead of being done properly. In order to increase our property value, this should be addressed first.
Additionally, the parking spots should be freshened up, the driveway should have less cracks and holes in it, and the lightning/signage should be updated. Heck, the pool should also have some fixes. I'd be willing to spend a few dollars more a month for these kind of repairs - true capital maintenance repairs. However, to add a few trees anda flower garden etc are wasteful.
